💜 The short version: Moruppi collects almost nothing. We don't sell your data. We don't show ads. Your meal logs stay yours, synced privately through your own iCloud.

What Data We Collect
Data you enter into the app
When you use Moruppi, you create data by logging meals, water intake, and tracking your companion's care. This data includes:
- Meals and food items you log
- Water intake amounts
- App usage patterns (streaks, completed quests)
- Moruppi's mood and status
- Personal preferences and settings
This data is stored locally on your device and optionally synced across your devices via Apple's iCloud service, using your own iCloud account.
Anonymous analytics
To understand how the app is being used and improve it over time, we collect anonymous usage analytics through PostHog. This includes:
- Screens visited
- Features used
- App crashes and errors
- General device information (device model, iOS version)
This data is not linked to your identity. We cannot see who you are or what you logged. It only tells us "someone opened the feeding screen 500 times this week."
What we do NOT collect
- Your name, email, or contact information (inside the app)
- Location data
- Photos or camera access
- Contacts
- Health data (unless you explicitly enable HealthKit integration in future updates)
- Browsing history
- Advertising identifiers
How We Use Your Data
The data you enter is used exclusively to:
- Provide the app's core functionality (tracking, syncing, character responses)
- Sync your data across your devices via iCloud
- Display your progress and streaks
Anonymous analytics are used only to:
- Understand which features are used and which aren't
- Identify and fix bugs
- Improve the app over time
🚫 We never sell your data. Ever. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
Third-Party Services
Apple iCloud
Your app data is optionally synced through Apple's iCloud service using CloudKit. Apple handles this data according to their own privacy policy. We don't have access to your iCloud data.

PostHog Analytics
We use PostHog (EU-hosted) for anonymous usage analytics. PostHog is a privacy-focused analytics provider. Data is stored in the EU and processed according to GDPR standards.

Your Rights
You have complete control over your data:
- Access: All your data is visible in the app itself
- Delete: Delete the app to remove all local data. To remove iCloud data, go to iPhone Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage → Moruppi → Delete Data
- Opt out of analytics: Contact us at hi@moruppi.app and we'll help you opt out
- Request information: Email us anytime for questions about your data
Children's Privacy
Moruppi is rated 13+ and not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with information, please contact us at hi@moruppi.app.
International Users
Moruppi is available globally. We comply with GDPR (Europe), CCPA (California), and similar privacy regulations. Your data is stored on Apple's iCloud servers (Apple's global infrastructure) and PostHog's EU servers.
Data Security
Your data is protected by:
- Local encryption on your device (managed by iOS)
- Encrypted iCloud storage (managed by Apple)
- HTTPS encryption for all analytics transmission
- No user accounts or passwords for us to store or lose
Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last Updated" date at the top. Significant changes will be announced in the app or via our website. Continued use of Moruppi after changes means you accept the updated policy.
